BLAINE COUNTY, S.A. - The Board of Commissioners has received a major $5 million initiative from the Blaine County Department of Parks and Recreation to renovate and enhance the county's parks and outdoor recreation areas. The "County Parks Renovation Project" aims to improve accessibility, safety, and the overall visitor experience across 11 key parks and trails.
The proposed project, set to begin in September 2025, will address a range of improvements, including:
Upgrading trails and pathways to be more accessible for all residents
Restoring natural habitats and implementing sustainable landscaping
Enhancing recreational amenities and infrastructure at popular parks
Improving access to scenic overlooks and trailheads
"This investment in our parks system is a critical step in making Blaine County's outdoor spaces more inclusive, environmentally-responsible, and enjoyable for the whole community," said William Witt, Director of Blaine County Parks and Recreation.
The $5 million budget will be funded through a combination of county allocations, state/federal grants, and community fundraising efforts. Construction is planned to be conducted in a scattered approach, allowing most parks to remain open during the multi-year renovation process.
